Scuba Lodge is a small hotel, with a unique location. This picturesque hotel is in the quiet, residential area of Pietermaai, close to the centre of the fascinating city of Willemstad, surrounded by historic buildings. Surprisingly it also overlooks the Caribbean Sea. Pietermaai is a charming neighbourhood with a wonderful atmosphere, in which many of the 19th. century, colourful colonial houses and mansions have been restored. Scuba Lodge is five adjoining colonial style town houses. The façade of the hotel dates back to 1850 and was once a merchant's house. It is now a listed building as are many others in Willemstad. The hotel's buildings were renovated and lovingly restored in 2008, where possible, to their original splendour with wooden shutters, floors and ceilings. The interior was finished with Caribbean colonial style furnishings on keeping with the hotel's historical heritage. Balconies were added to give each room private access. The hotel's grounds have a mature tropical garden, two swimming pools and two small beaches. Although the name is a giveaway to its origins, Scuba Lodge welcomes all guests, not just those interested in the ocean. Scuba Lodge is a great base for sightseeing and nightlife. The famous floating bridge (over a century old), the floating market, the shops, restaurants and bars of Willemstad are a short stroll away. Willemstad has a comfortable and relaxed nightlife. It is also a UNESCO world heritage site, full of interesting buildings. The hotel is centrally located on the island and is an excellent place from which to explore the island or enjoy the numerous shore diving/snorkelling sites.
Scuba Lodge is excellent accommodation - reasonably priced - in the heart of Willemstad.
As the name suggests there is a professional dive operation at this picturesque hotel.

The resort has just 14 rooms and 8 apartments in five colonial style buildings. All rooms and apartments are fully furnished with a colonial theme to underline the tropical atmosphere and historical heritage. A refreshing change, to sleep in a hotel room with some character. The wonderful house reef is just 20 metres out from the coast, with small walls, big sponges and lots of fish. The fringing reef around Curacao is teeming with marine life. Dolphins are regular visitors to this section of coast. Scuba Lodge is a PADI Resort Centre with a full range of equipment for sale or hire plus all the PADI instruction courses. The dive centre has rinse tanks and secure gear storage. Curacao is famous for its excellent reef - some of the best diving and snorkelling in the world - and the fantastic freedom of shore diving - dive when you like and pretty much where you like. Snorkellers will enjoy the shore diving sites as much as the divers. Air for shore diving is "unlimited" – as much air as you want. There are over 38 shore diving sites on the calm south west coast, ideal for snorkellers, as well as divers, as the reef is very close to shore. See the diving and snorkelling pages - links on the banner above - for more information about the fantastic diving and snorkelling on Curacao. To make the most of this freedom – to dive, snorkel and explore the island - we recommend visitors to Curacao hire a vehicle. We can arrange vehicle hire at a lower rate than you would pay on island. We work closely with the PADI 5 star dive centre on the resort. It is a well organised dive operation offering the full range of PADI courses plus equipment to hire or buy. Guided dives and boat dives are available. The custom built dive boats are comfortable and well equipped for the very short ride to the sites. Boats take very small groups, usually 6 - 8 divers and snorkellers. At most sites there will be just you and few (new) friends - very relaxed and comfortable. However, boats do get booked up very easily.
Booking your diving, vehicle hire or other services with us, will save you money and is part of an ATOL protected holiday itinerary.
Any service you book with us will be ready and waiting for you on island - avoiding any possible disappointment.
